Out July 1 from Blue Engine Records, it's Swing Symphony, recorded by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra conducted by David Robertson. The first audio recording of Marsalis's Symphony No.3 finds two of the country's premier orchestras plumbing the depths of American orchestral music to concoct a thrilling and stylistically daring soundtrack of the 20th century.
Stay tuned for more details on the release; for now, watch Wynton discuss the thought process behind the epic work, which was commissioned by the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
